ASICS RELEASES 2022 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT INTRODUCING THE WORLD’S LOWEST CO₂e EMISSIONS SNEAKER “GEL-LYTE™ III CM 1.95” EMITTING JUST 1.95 CO₂e PER PAIR ACROSS ITS PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE
2023.06.16 PRESSKOBE, Japan (June 16, 2023) – ASICS today released its 2022 Sustainability Report, which summarizes the company’s progress towards medium- and long-term sustainability targets. Integrated in the VISION2030 and the Mid-Term plan, ASICS sustainability framework encompasses two main pillars— “People” and “Planet”—each driving sustainability actions in alignment with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The headline result for 2022 is introducing the world’s lowest CO₂ emissions sneaker “GEL-LYTE™ III CM 1.951” emitting just 1.95 CO₂e per pair across its product lifecycle.

ASICS announced the results of its global research “ASICS State of Mind Index2”, which indicated a positive link between exercise and mental wellbeing. ASICS’ research found that just 15 minutes and 9 seconds of movement may be all it takes to begin feeling the mood-boosting effects.

In 2022, the percentage of female managers at ASICS increased from 33.7% to 38.3% in 2022. ASICS committed to achieving a ratio of female representation in management and senior positions of at least 35% globally by 2023.
・Our Supply Chains
In 2022, ASICS developed “ASICS Human Rights Policy3“ and established a Human Rights Committee to define expectations and guidance for the suppliers to ensure ASICS takes responsibility for its impacts throughout the value chain.
As part of human rights due to diligence, ASICS recognizes the impact of purchasing practices on workers in the supply chain and promotes responsible purchase practice to improve suppliers’ working condition.
Planet:
ASICS was honored to be featured in a Ministry of the Environment’s PaSTI5 presentation in the COP274, as the case study of a company that takes climate action throughout the supply chain.
・Reduction of CO₂ emissions and Use of Recycled Polyester
Toward achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, ASICS has reduced CO₂ emissions by 22.0% from our direct operations in 2022. (Compared to 2015 baseline levels) ASICS also worked closely with our partner factories to implement the ASICS Green Procurement Policy to promote CO₂ reduction across supply chains such as to increase the use of renewable energy.
ASICS is also making progress towards replacing 100% of the polyester use by 2030, and has replaced more than 30% of replacing standard polyester materials in 2022.

ASICS launched the innovative 3D-printed SANDAL “ACTIBREEZE™ 3D SANDAL”6 ,which helps athletes recover physically and mentally after performance. ASICS also introduced the world’s lowest CO₂e emission sneaker “GEL-LYTE™ III CM 1.95”, which emits just 1.95kg CO₂e per pair across its product life cycle.
