ONITSUKA TIGER AND FOTT PAY TRIBUTE TO RUSSIAN MENSWEAR EVOLUTION

Region: Europe
Release date: 2013.09.21

Style in the Russian capital has progressed in recent years and casual clothing and sneaker store FOTT has played a fundamental part in the evolution. From its early days in 2005 until present day, FOTT’s influence has changed the way Russians look at fashion.

Japanese sport lifestyle brand Onitsuka Tiger and menswear shop FOTT have created a sneaker that pays homage to the store’s influence on urban Russian fashion. The shoe is FOTT’s premiere collaboration.

Seven years ago, FOTT was an online forum for the growing metropolitan creative class. The first store opened in 2008 and moved to Moscow’s high-end shopping district in November 2012. Here, the world’s best emerging brands are displayed in a giant factory-style space with the latest aspirational European interior design. FOTT’s products range includes clothing brands dedicated to both design and technology.

FOTT and Onitsuka Tiger have worked together since the early years and a unique sneaker has been created to celebrate this friendship. The FOTT sneaker is a limited edition of the legendary 1980s running model X-CALIBER. Its design mirrors the original blue, green and white from the store’s first logo. The heritage design honours the progress and passion of the FOTT team.

The shoe’s blue upper is made of VENTILE®, an all-weather fabric with unsurpassed breathability, as well as suede overlays on the toe, heel tab and laces. The tiger stripes on both sides are enhanced with silver 3M shadow stripes. More silver 3M on the back salutes Onitsuka Tiger’s iconic CALIFORNIA 78 model and the brand’s running tradition.

A map of Moscow is printed on the sockliner and a boldly embroidered FOTT logo cannot be missed on the back. In addition to a set of solid blue and solid green laces, FOTT sneakers will have an additional flagged pair.

Onitsuka Tiger was established in Japan in 1949 and has since created footwear and clothing inspired by Japanese values of craftsmanship and attention to detail. With heritage built into the design of each product, along with added modernity, the brand offers a wide range of styles for those who value their individuality. Onitsuka Tiger creates products for people who demand something above and beyond mainstream sports brands.

RRP for the FOTT limited edition is €130. It will be on sale at FOTT on September 28, 2013, and globally available on October 5, 2013.

About Onitsuka Tiger

In 1949, Kihachiro Onitsuka established Onitsuka Tiger, the forerunner of ASICS. It began with a commitment to promoting youth health, and has gone on to play a part in most major Olympic games. The famous Tiger stripes are synonymous with sporting triumph. The legend lives on today in the fusion of Japanese heritage and contemporary design. The spirit of Onitsuka Tiger is reflected in each collection of unique sneakers, apparel and accessories.

About Fott

Since the beginning, the FOTT team has kept only one rule, “Sell what you like and what you are passionate about.” Every brand that FOTT carries has a set of qualities that we find extremely important, for example functionality and durability. Although a lot has changed since the beginning, FOTT emerged into a wider concept, delivering different kinds of brands, providing a mix for the urban man.
