ASICS ELITE TRIATHLETES TAKE TOP HONORS AT 2016 ITU WORLD TRIATHLON YOKOHAMA
2016.05.16 PRESSGwen Jorgensen (USA) grabs Gold medal and 1st place with time of 1:56:02; Ashleigh Gentle (AUS) 2nd with time of 1:57:20 at Women’s race; Crisanto Grajales (MEX) 2nd with time of 1:46:42 at Men’s race.
ASICS (Headquarters: Kobe, Japan; President CEO: Motoi OYAMA) congratulates the company’s sponsored triathletes on their excellent finishes at 2016 ITU WORLD TRIATHLON in Yokohama, JAPAN. The triathlon featured standard distances of a 1.5km swim, 40km bike, and 10km run.
The race started under a beautiful sunny sky on Saturday, May 14.
Jorgensen won the 2016 ITU WORLD TRIATHLON Yokohama in a time of 1:56:02, more than 30 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Gentle. This was Jorgensen’s fourth straight win in Yokohama since 2013.
Jorgensen currently ranks 4th in the world.(WTS:As of May 14th, 2016)
Jorgensen commented, “I am really excited to be back in Japan. The crowd is always amazing, and today they are pushing me to the finish line again.”
Gentle enthused, “I feel very happy that Yokohama has turned out very well over the years. Especially it’s the Olympic year, so I knew I had to do another good race.”
Grajales responded, “Last year, I was in 5th place in Yokohama, so I’m very happy to get on the podium this year. Actually this is first time to be on the podium of the World Triathlon Series. I like to thank my coach and my family.”
