Mission

Manage development activities and vendor resources for mobile native and web applications for ASICS consumer-facing digital services and IoT products; work with mobile product owners to deliver industry leading digital consumer experiences contributing to ASICS Corporation digital transformation initiatives.

The Mobile Dev Lead is responsible for the development and performance of native and web mobile device applications for ASICS Corporation brands. Under the authority of the manager of the ASICS Headquarters Consumer Solutions Platform Operations & New Projects Team and in line with global digital transformation strategies, the Mobile Dev Lead will work with product, web application, and operations teams to deliver mobile applications and interfaces contributing to the achievement of the company’s mid- and long-term goals, with a focus on end-user performance, resiliency, maintainability, and security. The primary focus of this role will be support of the MY ASICS suite of native applications and IoT products, with a secondary focus on mobile and tablet products for brand, ecommerce, and retail web platforms.

Tasks

・Manage relationship with and utilization of vendors for mobile application development.

・Own relationship with relevant mobile app stores (Apple, Google, etc) to ensure complete and timely releases of native apps.

・Work with MY ASICS product teams to define and manage development roadmaps.

・Directly contribute to native app development through feature development, automated test cases, and bug fixes.

・Support web product teams with display and content delivery optimization recommendations for mobile web apps.

・Contribute to development of applications and service integrations in support of IoT products.

・Ensure that personally identifiable information used by mobile applications is stored and transmitted in a secure way.

・Clarify mobile development structure and support strategies for existing services and vendor resources.

・On-time delivery of feature release goals defined in the MY ASICS roadmap with focus on features for users in China, ecommerce integrations, event services, and 3rd party integrations.

・UX and functionality improvements for Apple Watch, Android Wear and other wearable device integrations for MY ASICS.

・Integrate new centralized user authentication features with mobile apps.

・Begin service and feature definition for bringing ecommerce and retail loyalty programs to mobile.

・Deliver software and product integrations for new IoT projects from the ASICS corporate strategy team.

Must have

・Advanced knowledge of mobile device and platform capabilities and native app languages (Swift, Objective C, Java).

・Decent working knowledge of server side web languages (any of Java, Ruby, Node.JS, Go, etc)

・Reliable and with sufficient foresight to ensure the stable and effective integration of various web systems, both commercial and open source.

・Familiarity and experience with connecting mobile apps web applications using web APIs.

・Structured, organized, practical, with a track record of delivery, ability to juggle multiple projects/partners simultaneously. Proven ability to consistently deliver technology projects on time, on budget, and with high quality results.

・Good verbal and written communication in English (must be comfortable maintaining technical documentation, presenting and exchanging ideas in workshops, and providing business user support over the phone).

・Contribute digital and technical expertise to the company.

・Strong affinity with sport.


Reporting pattern

Direct report to the manager of the Consumer Solutions Platform Operations & New Projects Team, Consumer Solutions Department, within the ASICS Global IT division.


Location

・The role is based in ASICS Headquarters Shibuya office in Tokyo. Relocation to Japan and visa sponsorship will be offered to the right candidate

・Other locations (Kobe, Irvine CA, New York City, London, Amsterdam, Sydney, Hong Kong, Singapore, or Shanghai) may be considered for the right candidate.
